Stoinis passed fit for Champions Trophy

Marcus Stoinis will fly to England with Australia's Champions Trophy squad after he was declared fit to play in the tournament today in Brisbane. Stoinis was a doubtful starter due to an injury he picked up at the IPL on May 5; he had hurt his right shoulder when he landed awkwardly while attempting a catch during a training session with his franchise, Kings XI Punjab.
After having scans done in India, Stoinis had returned to Australia to rehabilitate. A Cricket Australia spokesperson confirmed Stoinis had passed his fitness test, saying on the CA site that "he bowled today and medical staff were happy with his progress".
Stoinis, a 27-year-old allrounder, played five matches in the IPL, scoring only 17 runs in three innings and taking two wickets before being ruled out. He has played three ODIs for Australia and has a batting average of 96 in the format, primarily courtesy his 146 not out against New Zealand in January.
The Champions Trophy begins on June 1, with Australia set to play New Zealand in their first game in Birmingham on June 2.
