Organisers of the forthcoming Ichor International & Chesterton Petty Hong Kong Invitational Cricket Festival 2005 announced today that a record breaking total of 34 cricket teams had entered this year Invitational Cricket Festival, the most teams ever to participate in a weekend's cricket sixes tournament in the world.
Tournament Director Mr. Brad Tarr said, "The Festival is full! Thirteen men's and women's cricket teams will be flying into Hong Kong from all around the world including China, Taiwan, UK, India and Australia to participate in the Festival.
"Twenty-one Hong Kong cricket sides have also entered, making a record-breaking total of thirty-four participating teams in the men's and women's divisions.
"We're looking forward to a superb weekend of friendship through cricket," Mr Tarr continued.
Mr. Michael Maher, Chairman of the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour said, "We've been thrilled at the positive response from cricket clubs. The Hong Kong Cricket Festival demonstrates the popularity of sixes cricket and of Hong Kong as an attractive tourist destination."
Star cricketers Doug Walters (former Australian Test batsman), Heath Streak (former Zimbabwe captain), Adam Huckle (former Zimbabwe bowler) and Paul Pritchard (former captain of Essex) will be participating in the Festival.
Television coverage of the Festival will be on Tensports, and on Cable TV in Hong Kong.
The official charity of the Festival is the Make A Wish Foundation, a Hong Kong children's charity www.makeawish.org.hk.
The Ichor International & Chesterton Petty Hong Kong Invitational Cricket Festival 2005 will feature thirty-four cricket teams split into men's and women's competitions. The Men's Open competition will feature 24 teams playing in Cup, Plate and Bowl categories. The Spoon competition will feature 5 teams of social players in a strictly fun style division. The Women's Division will feature 5 women's teams playing in a round robin format.
The record breaking Ichor International & Chesterton Petty Hong Kong Invitational Cricket Festival 2005, which last year scooped an ICC award for contributing to the development of cricket in Asia, will be played at Po Kong Village Road Cricket Grounds in Diamond Hill, Kowloon from 11 - 13 November 2005 from 8.30am - 5.30pm daily.
Entrance is free and spectators are very welcome to watch the action and enjoy the Festival Village which includes picnic area and bouncy castles!
