Bangladesh and West Indies fined for slow over-rates

The Bangladesh and West Indies teams have been fined for maintaining slow over-rates during their recent Tests against India and England respectively.
Roshan Mahanama of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees penalized Bangladesh for one being over short against India during the Chittagong Test played between 18 and 22 May while Alan Hurst, also a member of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees, fined West Indies for being two overs short against England in the Lord's Test played from 17 to 21 May.
In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct regulations governing over-rate penalties, players are fined five per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
As such, Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar was fined 10 per cent of his match fee with each of his players received five per cent fines.
West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan was fined 20 per cent of his match referee while each of his players received10 per cent fines.
The offence is contrary to Section J of the ICC Code of Conduct which relates to slow over-rates.
For such offences, the decision of the ICC match referee is final and binding.
