Having accepted Kapil Dev's resignation without as much as a whimper, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) finds itself in a spot of bother. With the Board's Annual General Meeting only two weeks away, the BCCI finds itself having to revise its agenda. In its history that spans over seven decades, the BCCI has traditionally discussed the contents of the coach's report at the AGM. This time that will not be possible as Kapil Dev has not submitted his report on the tour of Australia last season.

Kapil Dev was first appointed coach last year, just before New Zealand toured India to play three Tests and five One-Day Internationals. Since then there have been numerous tours, including the disastrous tour of Australia and India's defeat to South Africa at home. Kapil Dev has not had a successful tenure as coach. Having said this, his departure from Indian cricket was filled with acrimony for a variety of different reasons. Allegations of matchfixing have turned Kapil Dev's stint sour.

Most recently, Kapil Dev called the Board unprofessional and that hit a nerve at the Board. The Press Trust of India reports that a source within the BCCI said "We can only remind him to send the report, but Kapil has to provide it." The same source is quoted as having said "Kapil Dev cannot plead ignorance for not giving his report as he had regularly given his report as captain."

Although these claims could be contested, it is very clear that the Board is not going to get any reports from Kapil Dev given the current relationship between the two. The sitting members at the AGM therefore will have one less item to discuss.
