The BCCI has said that they would consider including Twenty20 cricket at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi during their AGM in Mumbai on September 27 and 28.
Niranjan Shah, the BCCI secretary, told PTI: "Let the proposal come [from the organisers] and then we will put it up at the BCCI AGM - a proper forum for taking a decision on the matter."
The organising committee of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) had earlier proposed to include Twenty20 cricket instead of the traditional 50-over format, but the BCCI was reluctant to embrace the new format, unlike the other Test playing countries. However, in July, the board agreed to participate in the Twenty20 World Championships in South Africa next year and consequently included a tournament in the domestic calendar for the forthcoming season.
"There is still a chance that cricket may be included in the Games", said Suresh Kalmadi, the chairman of the CWG Organising Committee. "But for that the BCCI needs to act as the ball is in their court. We would like them to take a decision quickly but we can still work something out if they respond after November."
Kalmadi also claimed that the ICC had supported the idea of including the twenty-over format in the Games. Cricket last made an appearance at the 1998 event in Kuala Lumpur.
