Sherwin campbell has taken over as Barbados captain for the remainder
of the Busta Cricket Series.
The West Indies vice-captain replaces Ian Bradshaw, who led the side
for the first six matches while Campbell was on international duty in
Australia.
In making the announcement, the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA)
board of management expressed its appreciation to Bradshaw for his
contribution to the team's success.
"In making the decision to appoint Mr. Campbell as captain, the board
held discussions with both players and the appointment has received
their fullest support," the BCA said in a release yesterday.
Bradshaw later said he was prepared to throw his support behind
Campbell.
The inclusion of Campbell is one of two changes to the side which beat
the Leeward Islands in Nevis. He replaces Sean Armstrong, while offspinner Ryan Austin comes in for leg-spinner Dave Marshall.
With the England "A" side only gaining "shadow points", Barbados
currently share the top position with Guyana on 45 points in the race
for the Busta Cup.
Should both Barbados and Guyana win their last round-robin match, the
Barbadians would be declared champions by virtue of having more wins.
