JOHN CRAWLEY could be asked to step into the firing line at
No 3 for England and he is also proving upwardly mobile in the
Whyte & Mackay Rankings. The Lancashire batsman was confirmed
yesterday as the top batsman for July and he has also moved up
to fifth place in the rankings for the season, with Mark Ramprakash still leading.
Surrey`s Martin Bicknell, who has been in the interna- tional
wilderness since playing in two Tests against Australia four
years ago, has pipped Darren Gough for the July bowling award.
