Scorecard
Darren Lehmann was on the verge of another century for South Australia after propping up his side's top order with Mark Cosgrove on day one against Western Australia at Adelaide Oval. When bad light and rain stopped play 15 overs early Lehmann was 95 not out as the Redbacks moved to the comfort of 4 for 248 following some early slips in the opening session.
The 133-run partnership between Lehmann and Cosgrove, who was dismissed in the first over after tea for 89, eased the pressure on the home side after they were in trouble at 3 for 65. Lehmann, who won the toss for the first time in six efforts this season, joined Cosgrove once Shane Deitz had guided a catch to Adam Voges at third slip, Greg Blewett edged to the wicketkeeper Ryan Campbell and Callum Ferguson departed.
David Bandy did not to have to wait long to get his maiden first-class wicket when he delivered an outswinger in his opening over to Ferguson, who gave Campbell his second catch and left for zero. Both Cosgrove and Lehmann took advantage of some loose deliveries from the spin of Beau Casson, but they also had to contend with some tight seam bowling.
Cosgrove mixed the aggression of 14 boundaries with the patience of staying for 193 balls until becoming Campbell's third dismissal while Lehmann stroked 12 fours. The Warriors also suffered an early setback with Brad Williams succumbing to a hamstring strain in his fifth over.
