Coulter-Nile has surgery on hamstring

Fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile will miss Australia's one-day tour of Zimbabwe in August after having surgery to repair a hamstring injury he suffered while playing in the IPL.

Coulter-Nile has been a semi-regular in Australia's one-day team since making his debut in Cardiff last September, but his injury will keep him sidelined until after the tri-series with South Africa and Zimbabwe.

"Nathan has had a recurring left hamstring tendon injury over the past four months and required surgery to repair the damaged tendon to give it the best chance of recovery," Alex Kountouris, the team physio, said.

"Nathan will now commence a rehabilitation programme, however he is unlikely to be bowling again in time to be available for the ODI tri-series in Zimbabwe. We will take our time with Nathan's recovery to ensure he is fully fit for the big summer of cricket ahead."

Coulter-Nile picked up the injury while playing for the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL in April. Australia's one-day squad to tour Zimbabwe is likely to be close to full strength, with David Warner the only key player currently ruled out. Warner will stay at home ahead of the birth of his first child.
