Deadeye Watson just threw - didn't realise Rolton was her victim

Helen Watson, New Zealand White Fern fielder supreme didn't know who her victim was when she ran out ace Australian batter Karen Rolton in the CricInfo Women's World Cup final.

Watson, who was included in the side first and foremost for her fielding skills, played a crucial role in New Zealand's victory by not only running out Rolton with a direct hit but also Therese McGregor who looked as if she might steal victory for Australia.

"The ball came to me," she said of the Rolton dismissal, "and I didn't pick out who it was but as soon as I hit the wickets I saw her walking.

"It was then it was I realised it was Karen Rolton. So early on in the innings it was valuable for us," she said.

Then she capped it by removing Therese McGregor at a crucial stage in the hectic last few overs.

"I've played indoor cricket for New Zealand and that has helped my reaction times. I use that a lot in the winter to keep my skills up to scratch," she said.

The win was a great reward for all the effort put in by the side.

"It is fantastic, unbelievable, it was so up and down, up and down," she said.
