In another setback for ESPN-Star Sports, Doordarshan has turned down their request to screen highlights of the India-Pakistan series. Doordarshan was awarded the telecast rights for the series after a protracted court battle between ESPN-Star and Zee TV.
KS Sarma, the chief executive of Prasar Bharti (Doordarshan), dismissed the idea of sharing the feed with ESPN-Star. "We are not planning to do this, nor are we bound by any obligation to do so," he said. The Times of India quoted him as saying, "As per an existing contract, we have a one-way contract which provides for Prasar Bharti getting live feed for one-day matches and highlights for Test matches in case ESS gets rights. However, we are not obliged to share any highlights with them."
