East and Central Africa quadrangular tournament
Final dates for this year's East and Central Africa Cricket Association quadrangular tournament will be finalised at meeting of the EACACA next week.
Originally to be held in Tanzania on August 20, 21 and 22, the tournament is likely to be delayed following a request from the Tanzania Cricket Association.
The annual four team competition is likely to be contested by Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Unlike Kenya, which discontinued competing in the quadrangular tournament upon attaining individual status of the International Cricket Council, Uganda will continue to participate in the tournament despite no longer technically being a part of the East and Central Africa Cricket Association.
Meanwhile, the dates for next year's Africa Cricket Association Cup have been confirmed with Nairobi, Kenya to host the event from February 20-28.
There are already promising signs for a wholly inclusive event with Nigeria and The Gambia already confirming their participation. Previously, no West African country has contested either the old Zone VI or the ACA Cup competitions.
In other news, the Annual General Meeting of the Africa Cricket Association in Maseru, Lesotho on September 17 & 18 will be updated on cricket's progress in Rwanda and Burundi.
Officials of the Tanzania Cricket Association have reportedly been liaising with enthusiasts in both countries, and September's meeting will confirm the extent of cricket's development in the former Belgian colonies.
