Four more India Cements employees withdrawn

Following the withdrawal of the Indian team's logistics manager MA Satish, the BCCI has removed four India Cements officials who were part of various BCCI sub-committees as per the Supreme Court directive.

The four officials are Kasi Viswanathan, a close aide of India Cements chief and sidelined BCCI president N Srinivasan, India Cements' legal consultant PS Raman, Prasanna Kannan and RI Palani, a senior manager with the company.

Besides being the secretary of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), Viswanathan was a member of the National Cricket Academy Board and the New Area Development committee. Raman has been a BCCI consultant and a TNCA vice-president, besides being the India Cements counsel. When Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan had surrendered himself to the Mumbai Police before he was arrested on betting charges, Raman had accompanied him to Mumbai.

Kannan has been working as the chief financial officer of the Indian Premier League ever since the league's inception in 2008. Palani, the joint secretary of TNCA, was a member of the BCCI's zonal academies committee. He had also served as the manager of India Under-19 squad for the World Cup earlier this year.

A BCCI insider confirmed that the board "has abided by the interim order" issued by the Supreme Court on Friday in the Cricket Association of Bihar's case regarding the IPL corruption scandal. In its order, the Supreme Court had asked the BCCI to discharge all the India Cements employees of their BCCI responsibilities till the verdict is announced.
