Glamorgan seam bowler Andrew Davies has announced his retirement according to take up a job in the business world.
Davies had been offered a one year contract by the county but he turned that down in order to take up a position with Brewin Dolphin Holdings Limited, a Swansea-based stockbroker.
"This was a nightmare decision for me," he told the Western Mail. "I had a few sleepless nights thinking about what to do. "I had to look at it with regards the rest of my life. I have a young family and I knew this opportunity to join Brewin Dolphin would not be there in two or three years time.
"If I carried on playing cricket I probably would have had another two or three years in me but this job gives me massive stability for the future."
Davies, who won his cap this summer, had increasingly become seen as a one-day specialist. In seven Championship appearances in 2007 his seven wickets cost 68.17 and his one-day form was also off.
