13 Tour Holland/Belgium
The Guernsey U13's came away from their tour of Holland & Belgium with three wins from three games, including two victories over a full strength Dutch outfit.
"We organised this tour to find out what standards we need to reach going forwards into our ICC commitments", said development coach Jason Shambrook. "The tour went very well. The fielding was exceptional but the highlight was the bowling". "What I find incredible is that we used eight bowlers during the tour and none of them conceded more than three and a half runs per over", said Jason.
In the first game against the Antwerp Indians, Guernsey set an imposing 258/5 in 40 overs. Tim Ravenscroft starred with the bat scoring 103 with useful contributions from Adam Clark, Andrew Dawson Ball & Charlie Wilkes Green. The Indians were dismissed for 104 with the pick of the bowlers being Andrew Hutchinson 7/4/19/4.
In the second game in Utrecht against Holland, Guernsey bowled well and restricted their hosts to just 97 from 40 overs. Left arm spinner, Max Ellis returned figures of 8/0/23/2. Chasing small totals is never easy but with Tim Ravenscroft scoring another half century victory came with the loss of 4 wickets.
The third game was a rain reduced affair in Amsterdam. Guernsey batted first and made 113/5 in 22 overs. Adam Hindle showed his undoubted class with an unbeaten 33. The Dutch were never really up with the run rate and finished 0n 80/6, Andrew Hutchinson 4/2/5/1 and Tom Still 4/1/9/0.
U14 v Dorset
A Guernsey representative record partnership of 307 gave Guernsey victory against Dorset in the seasonal county match.
Guernsey batted first and initially found it hard going against a well drilled Dorset side. Opener, Richard Angliss was dismissed early in the game which brought the partnership of Tim Ravenscroft & Chris Whitworth together. The brutal strength of Ravenscroft with the careful shot placement of Whitworth combined well. The partnership was finally broken when Whitworth fell for 110 (11x 4's).
Ravenscroft finishing unbeaten on 193 not out (9x 6's, 18x 4's). A target of 358 in 50 overs was always going to prove difficult and Dorset ended on 208/7 falling 150 runs short. The pick of the Guernsey bowlers was Joshua Kendal 6/2/13/2.
