Ian Harvey and Craig Spearman smashed the biggest partnership in the Twenty20 Cup so far as Gloucestershire completely demolished their West Country rivals Somerset at Taunton. The overseas pair treated the crowd to some Antipodean anarchy with a flurry of boundaries: 16 fours and five sixes - and two lost balls. Spearman played the anchor role with a mere 43 from 28 balls, while Harvey thrashed an astonishing 75 from 34. While Gloucestershire's Martyn Ball finished with the miserly figures of 1 for 11 from his 4 overs, all the Somerset bowlers were despatched with embarrassing ease with Wesley Durston going for 24 off his one over. It was the first ten-wicket victory in the competition and by far the easiest, and it now sets up a top-of-the-table clash between Gloucestershire and Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Monday. Scorecard

Robin Martin-Jenkins during his 56 not out against Essex

It was a much closer affair at Hove, where Sussex moved up to second of the Southern division after they denied Essex victory by seven runs. Chasing 181, in which Robin Martin-Jenkins top-scored with 56 not out from 36 balls, Essex were on course for an impressive win until Jason Lewry had his say. Andy Flower (71) and Ravi Bopara (22) were well set and needed 35 from the last three overs but Lewry swung the game back in Sussex's direction when he removed them both in quick succession. Aftab Habib and Paul Grayson did their best to keep Essex in the hunt, but couldn't manage the 15 runs needed off the last over. Scorecard
Leicestershire made it four wins out of four after they held their nerve to pull off a nervy last-ball win against Nottinghamshire. Chasing 159, Leicestershire made a shaky start, but when Darren Maddy (53) and Phil DeFreitas (18) began to mow the bowling to all parts with a partnership of 45, a routine victory was on the cards. However, when DeFreitas went for one big heave too many, and Maddy was caught, the game was thrown wide open. But Damien Brandy and Jamie Grove scrambled Leicestershire home with a few shaky singles, and nothing to spare. Scorecard
Dominic Hewson (4 for 18) and Nathan Dumelow (3 for 8) blitzed through the Lancashire innings like a streak of lightning as Derbyshire cruised to an easy seven-wicket win at Old Trafford. Only three Lancashire batsmen made double figures as they crashed to 91 all out. Michael Di Venuto (52*) and Luke Sutton (22*) then wrapped up the win with over four overs to go. Scorecard
