Nathan Hauritz spun Queensland to a four-run victory over South Australia in the ING Cup match at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, ensuring that they would play Western Australia in the final later this month. Hauritz picked up the prized scalp of Darren Lehmann for 75, and also dismissed Shane Deitz in the same over for 57, to finish with 4-39 from his 10 overs.
South Australia were cruising along at 2 for 203 at one stage, but they then stumbled to finish five runs short of the victory target. Lehmann had given the innings the impetus it needed, blasting 75 off just 59 balls with nine boundaries.
Queensland's total was built around a solid 53 from Clinton Perren, and noteworthy contributions from Craig Philipson (48), Martin Love (43) and James Hopes (40). For South Australia, Shaun Tait sent down just five overs before leaving the ground with an injured thumb. Precautionary x-rays showed no sign of a broken bone.
The biggest losers today, though, were Victoria, who missed out on a place in the final as a result of Queensland's victory.
