It was announced earlier in the week by South Africa's National convenor of selectors, Haroon Lorgat, that Warriors all-rounder, Tyron Henderson, has been included in the South Africa A squad that will travel to Sri Lanka next week. Henderson replaces all-rounder, Albie Morkel of Titans. Morkel has been nursing an ankle injury he suffered last season.
Henderson, 31, will form part of the 14-man squad that will play a two-day warm-up match and later face Sri Lanka A in two four-day matches.
Morkel could yet travel to Sri Lanka for the One-Day Triangular Series, subject to passing a fitness test. In the event that he fails, Henderson will take his place in the Triangular Series too. Lorgat emphasised that players have to prove their fitness first before they can be called to travel abroad.
"Tyron has been a prolific performer for the Eastern Cape franchise. His all-round abilities have been noted by us and we feel he deserves an opportunity to test his skills at a higher level," said Lorgat.
