Holder alone shines with bat

Barbados' cricket selectors, looking for some batting cheer in the final Busta Cup trial,
found little yesterday.
The exception was the reliable Roland Holder, who doubled his overnight score to 67 not out as
his his team made 249.
The batting of Philo Wallace's XI looked distinctly uncomfortable against pacers Dayne Maynard
and Hendy Bryan.
Wallace's XI started their second innings with an overall lead of 43 but were later reduced to
101 for seven.
Maynard collected the wickets of opener Shirley Clarke, national captain Philo Wallace and
Horace Waldron to strengthen his case for a recall to the side for the opening match against
Guyana at Kensington Oval starting on January 7.
Courtney Browne top-scored for Wallace's XI with 31 in 33 balls, including four boundaries. He
was caught at square-leg by Ryan Austin off Bryan.
Bryan also claimed the wicket of Ryan Hurley and ended the day with figures of two for 31 off
12 overs.
Earlier, Holder, the only man to score a century in any of the trials, continued his good
form. He struck three fours and one six off 122 balls.
