Michael Hussey hopes to make his comeback from injury in Western Australia's second Pura Cup match, against Victoria in late October. Hussey was ruled out of Australia's ODI tour of India after straining his left hamstring in the ICC World Twenty20.
He wants to be available for the first Test of the summer, against Sri Lanka at Brisbane on November 8, and believes the Victoria match starting at Melbourne on October 26 would be ideal preparation.
He told Cricinfo: "I would love to play that game beforehand. I'm not sure what the selectors' thoughts are, but I might have to prove my worth, make a few runs and get fully fit."
Following consultations with the doctor he said: "I'm hoping to have everything in place for the first Test at the Gabba. With hamstrings it's a difficult one. It is very important not to rush it, not because of the schedule ahead. We will have to wait to see."
