The ICC has announced that four umpires who are not part of the elite panel - but are in the list of international panel of umpires - will officiate in Test matches this season.
Tyron Wijewardena from Sri Lanka will stand in the Pakistan-Bangladesh Test in Karachi later this month, while Aleem Dar will get two Tests on England's tour of Bangladesh and two more when England play Sri Lanka. Neil Mallender will officiate in the second Test between Pakistan and South Africa at Peshawar, while Peter Willey will travel to Perth to stand in the Australia-Zimbabwe Test there in October.
The ICC has recently expanded the elite panel from eight to eleven, while the international panel consists of 29 umpires - two from Australia and three from the rest of the nine Test-playing nations. The ICC rules stipulate that while the second umpire officiating in all one-day internationals will be appointed by the home board, he must be a member of one of the two panels.
