Srinath says he would like to play in one-dayers: Indian speedster Javagal Srinath has said that he is available for the forthcoming five one-dayers against Zimbabwe to be played from December 2 to December 14. Talking to an Indian newspaper in Dhaka, Srinath said "I suppose, yes, I'll be available."
Srinath, who last represented the country in the Sharjah Cup in May- June this year, was quoted as saying that he would like to concentrate more on Tests and preferred to play less one-day games. He was not considered for the Asia Cup in Dhaka, the ICC Knockout Trophy in Kenya and the Champions Trophy in Sharjah.
Assam denies change in ODI venue
The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has come down strongly on a news agency report which has reported that the first one-day international between India and Australia has been shifted to Jamshedpur. A agency report on Friday has reported that the 1st one-day international between India and Australia will be played in Jamshedpur on Mar 25, 2001.
Denying the report, ACA joint secretary Bikash Baruah said "after a preliminary discussion the match was allotted to Assam and the match will be played here in Guwahati." Baruah added that they "have contacted BCCI secretary Jaywant Lele in this regard and Lele has confirmed that the news of allotting the first ODI to Jamshedpur is baseless."
Yograj Singh granted bail
Former Indian fast bowler and Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh has been granted bail in the petrol adulteration case on Friday. The district and sessions court in Chandigarh granted the bail to the former player and Punjabi actor.
Granting the bail to Yograj, the Sessions Judge SS Bhalla directed him to furnish a bond of Rs 20,000 and two sureties for the same amount. Yograj was arrested after the police had allegedly recovered 22 drums of adulterated petrol from his farmhouse and registered a case against him.
Two changes in Bengal under-14 squad
The Bengal selectors have made two changes in the under-14 squad for the tie against Bihar at the ECDSC ground in Calcutta from November 14-16. The two changes are - Rana Das replaces Subhojyoti Basu while Joydeep Roy comes in for Suraj Gand.
