At Kimberley, May 9, 2009 (floodlit). Chennai Super Kings won by seven wickets. Toss: Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan Royals 140-7 (20 overs) (G. C. Smith 30); Chennai Super Kings 141-3 (18.2 overs) (M. L. Hayden 48, S. Badrinath 59*). Chennai Super Kings 2 pts. Man of the Match: S. Badrinath.
Warne said beforehand that Chennai were poor chasers, and was nearly proved right as he and Yusuf Pathan kept a tight leash on the scoring on a big-turning pitch. But Hayden would not be subdued, then Badrinath hit out, ignoring the opposition's sledging. He hit nine fours and a six, and in the end forced Warne to eat his words.
