Jacques Kallis punishes Punjab

Jacques Kallis was one of Bangalore's big buys in 2008 but after a disappointing first season, found his mojo in South Africa. He continued his good form with his second consecutive fifty and a blistering one, that too in the face of a stiff target of 204 against Kings XI Punjab. He got off to a steady start and played second fiddle to Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey. He began by pinging the straight boundaries before squeezing out a yorker for four off Yusuf Abdulla. He then bashed the same bowler over midwicket for a huge six. But he reserved the biggest punishment for the IPL debutant Bipul Sharma. The left-arm spinner was taken for 23 off one over off Kallis' blade. He smashed three huge sixes over long-on and two over midwicket and followed it up with a delicate cut for four. Bangalore were never in doubt of messing it up so long as Kallis was there. He ended unbeaten on 89 and guided his team home with an over to spare.
