Nick Knight made 95, his first one-day fifty against county opposition this summer, to guide Warwickshire to a comfortable 65-run win over Middlesex under lights at Edgbaston. Warwickshire struggled early on, but recovered to post 228 for 6. Middlesex lost three early wickets to Heath Streak and were never in the game thereafter, and once gain their fragile batting failed to mount any kind of challenge as they were bowled out for 162 with more than six overs remaining.

Division Two

Gloucestershire edged to a two-wicket win with 13 balls to spare over Leicestershire in the Pro40 at Cheltenham thanks to an eighth-wicket stand of 39 between Ian Fisher and Jon Lewis. Gloucestershire were always up with the rate but lost regular wickets before the two lower-order batsmen came together. The chase was a team effort with seven players scoring between 22 and 39. Any of Leicestershire's batsmen also failed to reach fifty as Martyn Ball took four wickets and their total was boosted by some late hitting from David Masters and Claude Henderson.
