Lance Klusener, the former South Africa allrounder, has signed for Northamptonshire on a two-year contract.
Klusener, who played a few matches for Nottinghamshire in 2002 and Middlesex in 2004, will join forces with his countryman Kepler Wessels, the county's coach - and he revealed it has been a long-term ambition of his to play county cricket.
"I've played in bits and bobs over there, but I'm really looking forward to playing for a sustained period under Kepler," Klusener, 34, told Sporting Life. "Because I don't have many years left on the clock, this opportunity was a welcome one.
"I've never played under Kepler or been coached by him, but whenever I've had a batting problem in the past, he's always been one of my first stops along with Fordie (former South Africa coach Graham Ford)."
Klusener played 49 Tests for South Africa, scoring 1906 runs at an average of 32.86 and 171 one-day internationals with 3576 runs at 41.10.
