A strong nor-wester cooled temperatures and skies were overcast as action resumed in the Saturday, Sunday and Women's Leagues after a short break for the 2005 Cathay Pacific / Standard Chartered Hong Kong International Cricket Sixes. Individual highlights from the weekend include centuries from Mark Fuzes and Manoj Cheruparambil whilst Chris Gillard and Renee Montgomery claimed six wickets each.

The break did Gap Ramblers' little good as they came out on the wrong end of a hiding by Kai Tak in a match played at the Hong Kong Cricket Club. With a number of players from Kai Tak holding HKCC membership, it is hard to know which team was claiming `home ground' advantage but it was the pilots who made best use of the conditions as they skittled Gap Ramblers for 107, with David Belcastro claiming 4 wickets. Mohsen Naqvi then scored an unbeaten 49 as Kai Tak cruised to an easy victory by nine wickets.
There was further bad news for another HKCC team as Tartars pipped Nomads in a nail-biter played at Kowloon Cricket Club. Batting first, Tartars scored a solid 209-8 from their 35 overs, with Scottish Under-23 wicket keeper Mark Ferguson top scoring with 65. Chris O'Sullivan looked to have taken his team to victory with a well-struck 87 but the Nomads run-chase fell an agonising 3 runs short of the target.
To complete a miserable day for HKCC, HKU beat Witherers by 25 runs at Sandy Bay to maintain their position atop the Saturday League points table. Martin Sabine once again provided the backbone of the HKU innings with a fine 96 not out in a total of 224-7 from their 35 overs. Aaron Stewart hit 69 as Witherers' made a spirited chase but they were eventually dismissed for 199 with Bruce Abernathy claiming 4 wickets for the academics.
Maintaining pressure on HKU are SubCont who scored a four wicket win over Lamma in a match played at the Po Kong Village Road number 2 ground. Rizwan Sattar (60) and Toby White (59) lifted Lamma to a solid 211 off their 35 overs but a strong reply by SubCont saw them home by two wickets with Ankur Sharma top scoring on 67.
Saracens hit the highest score of the day as they beat Centaurs by 55 runs at Mission Road. Naeem Ashraf scored 76 and Amjad Mahmood blasted an undefeated 55 as Saracens piled up an imposing total of 247-5 off their 35 overs. A number of Centaurs batsmen made promising starts but none were able to push on to a big score that could have taken them to victory. In the end, Centaurs were restricted to 192-8, with Ravi Sujanani claiming four wickets for Saracens.
Police scored their second win of the season against the winless CCC at the Police Training School ground in Aberdeen. Khalid Khan was once again at his lethal best as he ran through the CCC batting line-up to finish with the day's best figures and another five-wicket haul. The Police batsmen delivered the goods as they cruised to a six-wicket victory, with Ian Childs undefeated on 48.
In the last match of the day, LSW Warriors beat MCC St George's by 49 runs at the Po Kong Village Road number 1 ground.

With Templars and Pakistan Association showing strong form in the early stages of the competition, a cracking game was expected as the two faced off at Kowloon Cricket Club, but it was the visitors who walked away with a relatively comfortable victory. Batting first, Templars were dismissed for 183 in the 46th over with KCC Coach Afzaal Haider scoring 50 the only batsman to offer any substantial resistance. Butt Hussain made sure that Pakistan Association didn't slip up as he nurtured his team home in the 46th over with an unbeaten 65.
Meanwhile both Club's other teams, Infidels and Pakistan Association Green, faced off at Mission Road and this time it was the KCC team that prevailed. Manoj Cheruparambil enjoyed a great day as he firstly scored 111 in Infidels total of 236-6 and then claimed three wickets as Pakistan Association Green was dismissed for 176 in reply. For Pakistan Association Green, Krishnan Kalatil top scored with 66 and Saiket Sen claimed four wickets whilst Imran Farcy also claimed four wickets for Infidels.
Scorpions beat LSWCC by 20 runs in a tense match played at Hong Kong Cricket Club. The LSW bowlers held the upper hand early on as they spun a web around the Scorpions batsmen, bundling them out for just 133 runs. Nadeem Ahmed warmed up for the Under-19 tour to Nepal by claiming three wickets and Munir Dar, who impressed at last weekend's Sixes for Hong Kong, also claimed three victims. But Scorpions weren't beaten and impressive bowling spells from Ryan Eagleson and Brenton McDonald, who claimed three wickets each, saw the visitors skittled for 113 in the 27th over and Scorpions had claimed an important victory.
In the last match of the round, Millennium took on Optimists at Po Kong Village Road. And it proved to be a real blow out as Optimists scored a massive 132-run victory. Batting first, Optimists piled on the runs to reach 321-6 from their allotted overs with Mark Fuzes hitting 170 not out and Mark Eames chipping in with a half-century of his own. Ahmad top scored with 73 for Millennium in reply, but he and the rest of the batsmen had no answer to Chris Gillard who claimed six scalps as Millennium were dismissed for 189.
2005-06 Women's League
The fifth match of the 2005-06 Women's League saw KCC take on the HKCC Cavaliers at Po Kong Village Road. KCC's Renee Montgomery was the undoubted star of the day as she claimed 6-22 and followed that up with an unbeaten 49 as KCC cruised to a six-wicket victory.
