Division One
Glamorgan v Gloucestershire at Cardiff
Matthew Maynard is still missing for Glamorgan after a bout of bronchial pneumonia, but Robert Croft will lead the side despite having problems with a hamstring. Ian Fisher has been included in Gloucestershire's squad alongside Upul Chandana, the Sri Lankan legspinner, who took 4 for 27 in their C&G match against Berkshire. Matt Windows is out for three weeks with a hamstring injury.
Hampshire v Middlesex at Southampton
Dimitri Mascarenhas could start his first Championship match of the season and Chris Tremlett has the chance to show why he has been included in England's development squad. Chris Whelan, a young seamer, and Chris Peploe, a left-arm spinner, were included in the Middlesex squad.
Surrey v Nottinghamshire at The Oval
Martin Bicknell is included for Surrey after coming through the match against Staffordshire but Azhar Mahmood is still injured. Paul Franks and Andy Harris return for Nottinghamshire, who have a chance to move above Surrey into second place.
Division Two
Durham v Somerset at Stockton
Mick Lewis makes way for Graeme Bridge in the Durham squad for a match that includes the battle between Steve Harmison and Marcus Trescothick. The side has also been boosted by the news Ashley Noffke, the Queensland fast bowler, will arrive in the next two weeks after being cleared of a "hot spot" in his lower back. Noffke, an Ashes tourist in 2001, is now free to make his belated debut for the county alongside fellow overseas player Mike Hussey after passing a fitness test in Brisbane. Somerset have dropped Nixon McLean in favour of Simon Francis, who took 3 for 23 in the C&G Trophy defeat against Leicestershire.
Essex v Leicestershire at Chelmsford
Grant Flower and Dale Steyn have been added to the Essex squad that beat Devon. Steyn, the South African fast bowler, is set for his Championship debut. Aftab Habib will line up for Leicestershire against the side which released him at the end of last season, and Darren Robinson, who is not a regular in the one-day team, returns to the four-day side.
Lancashire v Derbyshire at Old Trafford
Brad Hodge has been named in the Lancashire squad for the first time this season after arriving from Australia. Dominic Cork and Muttiah Muralitharan also return after missing the C&G Trophy match against Buckinghamshire. Derbyshire include Andy Gray, the offspinner who has agreed a match-by-match deal, and Paul Havell in the squad on the back of their one-wicket win over Durham in the C&G Trophy.
Yorkshire v Northamptonshire at Headingley
Michael Vaughan will play his first Championship match for two years, following his 58 against Ireland in the C&G Trophy. Northamptonshire are set to stick with the side that drew against Derbyshire, meaning Charl Pietersen, who took 7 for 10 against Denmark, will miss out.
