Netherlands buoyant ahead of Bermuda clash

Netherlands captain Luuk van Troost insists two defeats in their last two games have not dented the team's confidence ahead of their next ICC World Cricket League Division 1 encounter with Bermuda on Sunday.

The Dutch began their campaign in Nairobi in fine style by securing an eight-wicket win over Canada on Tuesday.

That was followed, however, by Wednesday's seven-wicket loss to hosts Kenya and then a bitterly disappointing two-run defeat to Scotland on Friday.

But Van Troost claims the team remains in good spirits, with matches against the Bermudans and Ireland still to come in Nairobi and then next month's World Cup looming.

"We're still confident," he said. "Kenya was unlucky because we lost the toss on a very difficult track. (On Friday) we should have won it - we were the better side.

"So we are still full of confidence and if we win the last two... yeah we're confident for the World Cup.

"We're still a bit disappointed about (Friday's) game - it was really unbelievable what happened there.

"But we have to forget it and we have to focus on tomorrow. We have to relax today and then tomorrow give our best.

"A few of the boys are training and the rest are staying in the hotel taking it easy."

The Bermudans are still looking for their first win in the Kenyan capital, having so far lost to the hosts, Ireland and Canada.

But Gus Logie's side did manage to finish fourth at the ICC Trophy two years ago to clinch their place in the Caribbean, and Van Troost is familiar with the threat they pose.

"We played them in December. We played a few one-dayers against them and a four-dayer so we know them quite well," he said.

Coach Peter Cantrell may be forced into making a change or two to his line-up for Sunday's match.

Van Troost added: "A few of the guys were struggling a bit with injuries - but that's also age I think. We'll have to see how they come out today and then make the team tomorrow morning."
