New Zealand v Bangladesh
New Zealand v Bangladesh first one-day international
15-Apr-2008
At Auckland, December 26, 2007. New Zealand won by six wickets. Toss: New Zealand. Oneday
international debut: Junaid Siddique.
Bangladesh, elated after their fine Twenty20 win three days previously, started at top speed and,
at 136 for two in the 27th over with Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Ashraful well set, a total of
250 or more seemed likely. However, Tamim fell the ball after reaching his half-century, then
Ashraful holed out in the deep after making 70 from 57 balls, with ten fours and a six, and the
rest of the batting withered away. New Zealand were never troubled once How and McCullum
put on 90 for the first wicket, and Styris hit the winning runs - a six off Shakib Al Hasan - with
plenty to spare.
