Wisden's review of the second ODI, New Zealand vs England, 2012-13

15-Apr-2014
At Napier, February 20, 2013 (day/night). England won by eight wickets. Toss: England. One-day international debut: H. D. Rutherford.
Anderson collected only the second five-wicket haul of his one-day career after he and Finn exerted remarkable control with the new ball. Both got through exemplary six-over spells costing only 11 runs, but from 22 for two New Zealand mustered a worthwhile total through Taylor's return to form and another Brendon McCullum special. The former captain and his successor blitzed a century stand from 53 deliveries, dominated by McCullum's nine fours and four sixes off 36. Taylor, cheered to the wicket in every match since his self-imposed isolation, earned a standing ovation, having made his seventh one-day international hundred. It was not yet vintage Taylor, but it was a start. Even so, England achieved their target with ease, and Root provided another demonstration of his bustle, invention and class. He finished with 79 not out from 56 balls, having shared an unbroken stand of 121 with Trott as England set up a decider at Eden Park.
