PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA 1985-86

At Sialkot, October 27, 28, 29, 31

15-Apr-1987
At Sialkot, October 27, 28, 29, 31. Pakistan won by eight wickets. Jinnah Park became the 59th Test match venue and Pakistan's eleventh. Sri Lanka, put in, were bowled out on the first day for 157, Imran taking four for 55 on a pitch which helped the seam bowlers throughout. Except for their openers, Mudassar and Mohsin Khan, and their captain, Pakistan's batsmen were no more secure on the second day as Ratnayeke claimed eight wickets for 83, the best bowling by a Sri Lankan in a Test match and eclipsing Ratnayake's six wickets against India the previous month. Play was held up three times as the Sri Lankan fielders protested over the turning down of an appeal for a catch at the wicket against Miandad off Ratnayake. On the third day Pakistan dismissed the touring side for 200, Imran's five wickets giving him match figures of nine for 95, and went into the rest day with 1 run in the book. The remaining 98 required for victory were scored without difficulty on the fourth morning to give Pakistan victory with more than a day and a half to spare.
