Sri Lanka Cricket has appointed a bowling review committee to assess the report on Muttiah Muralitharan's doosra. Mohan de Silva, president of the Sri Lankan board, said the committee would then report their findings to the ICC.
"The report has come," de Silva said. "Our bowling review committee will meet tomorrow (Thursday) to study the report first and make their observations to the ICC. A report will be sent to the ICC once we receive video footage from Australia."
De Silva refused to reveal the the conclusions of the report: "There are procedures that we are obliged to follow and we cannot make the results public until we have sent the report to the ICC and sought their recommendations."
Nevertheless, de Silva hinted at a positive outcome for Muralitharan: "I am confident though that he (Murali) should be able to bowl the doosra."
Muralitharan's doosra had come under scrutiny and he was reported by the match referee to the ICC after the recent series against Australia. He underwent a series of tests supervised by Bruce Elliott, a biomechanist at the University of Western Australia.
The panel to review the report consists of Ranjan Madugalle, Roshan Mahanama, Champaka Ramanayake, Kandiah Francis, Lalith Kaluperuma and Roger Wijesuriya - an assortment of former players, umpires, selectors, and a bowling coach.
