Islamabad, Nov 27: PCB chairman Lt-Gen Tauqir Zia voiced his concern
over the lack of expertise in Pakistan to prepare standard cricket
pitches. "I have laid down stress on it and I am working on hiring the
English curator presently working in Sri Lanka to work in Pakistan,"
he said.
The general said that he was not satisfied with the pitches prepared
in Pakistan and added the pitches prepared are not upto mark for
international matches.
The PCB chief said that his foremost objective is get three types of
pitches, i.e South Africa where the next world cup will be held,
English and Australian prepared at Lahore by February so that the
national probables can play on them and prepare.
To a query about the preparation of dead pitches like the one for the
Test at Lahore, the general said that when the team management and
skipper are unanimous in their views then other things matter less.
