Kevin Pietersen has been voted as the Emerging Player of the Year. Simon Tauffel was judged the Umpire of the Year.
The 2005 ICC Awards function is currently underway in Sydney's Four Season's Hotel.
Players from nine of the ICC's 10 full member countries have been nominated for international cricket's most prestigious individual awards.
Kevin Pietersen was one of the seven contenders for the Emerging Player of the Year award. Pietersen averaged 87.33 at a strike rate of 99.49 in ODI cricket during the 12 months under review by the ICC Awards Academy, earning him a place among the 18 nominees for the ODI Player of the Year award.
The others in contention were Aftab Ahmed (Bangladesh), Ian Bell (England), Gautam Gambhir (India), Dinesh Karthik (India), M Rana (Bangladesh) and AB De Villiers (South Africa).
