Report on the 2nd, Carcamanes Cricket Festival - Buenos Aires 05

The Argentine Cricket Association recently hosted the Second Carcamanes (Over 40's) Festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Festival took place from the 5 -12th March. All four premier Argentine grounds featured - Belgrano Athletic, Hurlingham, Lomas Athletic and Saint Alban´s.

Two guest umpires (Dudley Eckworth from England and Guyanese-born Ashook Brijcoomar from Canada) officiated alongside qualified local umpires.

The Festival which was managed by the Argentine Cricket Association's Marketing agent, Baimax International was a resounding success with all the participating teams playing three matches each.

The teams participating were:

Kookaburra CC (Australia)
Trinidad Caribs (Trinidad & Tobago)
North Wolves (Argentina)
South Bulls (Argentina)

The bones may have been weary after a week of cricket (and many of the international visitors were off sight-seeing thereafter) but terrific friendships were formed under the late summer Argentine sun. All matches were conducted in excellent spirit and hats off to Kookaburra CC as their average age was about 20 years older than the other teams!
