South Africa v New Zealand, 2000-01

At Centurion, October 25 (day/night)

15-Apr-2002
At Centurion, October 25 (day/night). South Africa won by 115 runs (D/L method). Toss: New Zealand.
For the third time in three games, Boje gave New Zealand the run-around, hitting a six and 13 fours in 129 from 114 balls. On a superb batting strip, he and Kirsten established a one-day South African second-wicket record, with 160 in 27 overs and provided the platform for their second-highest one-day total, and best against a Test side (they scored 328 for three against Holland in the 1995-96 World Cup). Boje and Kallis then added 79 at seven an over. Rain in New Zealand's fifth over prompted a revised target of 305 from 43 overs. Astle and Fleming put on 56 in seven, after which 72 in 12 by Astle and Twose kept the Kiwis in the hunt. Then Telemachus, who had removed Nevin with his first ball (caught Boje at square leg), nipped out Twose and Cairns with successive deliveries. When Boje ran out McMillan and had Astle caught at mid-wicket, the result was as clear-cut as the match award.
Man of the Match: N. Boje.
