India's squad for the forthcoming tour of South Africa will be selected on October 30 at Mohali, a day after India's do-or-die clash against Australia, the Indian board (BCCI) has announced. Niranjan Shah, the BCCI secretary, also confirmed that new contracts for India's cricketers would be decided in a board meeting between November 9 and 11.
"Chairman of selectors [Dilip Vengsarkar], India's coach [Greg Chappell] and myself have to get together for this," he said. "We will first grade the cricketers and then offer contracts."
Shah also dismissed talk of the BCCI implementing a permanent anti-doping policy in the wake of the recent scandal. "There is no need of that right now," he said. "At present we are concentrating on educating and creating awareness regarding doping among the cricketers. This exercise is going on for the last three months. We have also given them a World Anti-Doping Agency list of banned substances which should not be used by cricketers."
India play five one-day internationals and three Tests in South Africa between November 19 and January 6.
