At P. Saravanamutu Stadium, Colombo, September 21. Sri Lanka won by 14 runs. In a match badly affected by rain and shortened to 28 overs a side, Madugalle's rare aggression guided Sri Lanka to a challenging total. Vengsarkar sustained the Indian reply, but the Sri Lankan fielders backed up their seam bowlers so well that India dropped behind the required run-rate.
