Stanford Super Series 2008-09

Wisden's review of the Stanford Super Series, England v Trinidad and Tobago, 2008-09

15-Apr-2009
October 28, 2008 (floodlit). England XI won by one run. Toss: Trinidad & Tobago. England XI 141-6 (20 overs) (I. R. Bell 37, K. P. Pietersen 44; S. Ganga 4-23); Trinidad & Tobago 140-9 (20 overs) (D. Ramdin 37; A. Flintoff 3-30).
English national pride was upheld in the end… just. Trinidad needed ten from the last over, and when Samuel Badree deftly flicked Steve Harmison's fourth ball to the fine-leg boundary an upset looked likely. But with three runs wanted off the last ball - and a "super over" bowl-out lying in wait if two were scored - Ravi Rampaul managed only a single to third man. England's selection had been hampered by a stomach bug which reduced them to 11 fit men.
