In a memorable day for Israel cricket, both the Israel senior team and the U18 side recorded comprehensive victories over India and Great Britain respectively. Star of the day was Isaac Massil who scored a magnificent hundred in Israel's 102-win over India. South Africa also began the tournament strongly, with the senior side easing pass Great Britain by 7 wickets, and the juniors defeating Australia by 6 wickets.
Asked to bat by Indian captain Rapahel Talkar, Israel's inning was dominated by a superb 166-run partnership for the 5th wicket between Massil and left handed Sanjay Gupta. The two came together with Israel in a awkward position of 78 for 4, but by the time Gupta was out for a 82, the score had reached 244. With the allotted overs running out, Massil, who had been happy to take the one's and two's in the early stages of his innings, began to cut loose, finding the boundaries at ease. He smashed 4 sixes and 4 fours, bringing up his hundred in the final over of the innings to the delight of the Israel team and their supporters.

Set 274 to win, India could not have got off to a worse possible start, losing a wicket to a run out off the very first ball of their innings. Massil struck in the second over, clean bowling Vikram Nimbrelkar for a duck, leaving India at 0 for 2. That became 14 for 3 when Yefet Nagavkar pulled off a spectacular catch in the gully to give Massil his second wicket.
Although Elijah David and Swapnil Penkar stemmed the flurry of wickets, runs remained hard to come by for the Indians against very tight Israel bowling. The pressure finally told when David was caught off the bowling of Jacky Divekar, and Avner Jhirad was run out for 13. Steven Shein then began getting amongst the wickets, bowling Benjamin Waskar (8) and Ofer Shapurkar (1). In between he also grabbed the wicket of Swapnil Penkar, who had scored a fine 42.
With the game effectively over as a contest, there was time for young Daniel Shapurkar to play an innings he will be proud of. Batting at number 9, Shapurkar was the only player to show any form of aggression, scoring 55. India were eventually all out for 171.

The Israel junior side put in a superb fielding performance against Great Britain, with run outs, great catches and tight bowling leaving GB all out for 101. Dani Hotz (32) led Israel to victory, which was sealed by Safania Naguakar (21*) with 6 wickets and more than 25 overs in hand.
South Africa also enjoyed a good day on the field. Ryan Maron and Adam Bacher eased the South African senior side to their target of 139 against Great Britain. In the junior game, Mathew Rosen scored 64* and Ryan Kulber managed 20, as the South Africans successfully chased the Australian total of 147 in just 30 overs. Earlier, Daniel Harrisberg (3 for 12) and Alon Glassman (3 for 19) impressed with the ball, whilst David Leiboff (24) top scored for the Australians.
The cricket tournament continues on Tuesday in Ashdod, where there are two games in the junior competition. Israel play South Africa and Australia meet Great Britain.
