Mumbai took just five overs to wipe out the 24 runs they needed to beat
Railways in
Mysore. They did so by 10 wickets to secure a bonus-point win, the groundwork of which was done by
Tushar Deshpande, the right-arm seamer, who picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.
Railways, resuming on 135 for 4, were bowled out for 208. A 35-run stand between Faiz Ahmed and Ashish Yadav was the only noteworthy stand, after which the lower middle order collapsed. In their chase, Mumbai openers Ashish Herwadkar and Shreyas Iyer strolled to victory. This was Mumbai's second win in four matches.
Punjab defeated
Uttar Pradesh by seven wickets to collect six points in
Hyderabad on the back of opener
Jiwanjot Singh's 82-ball 69. They reached their 112-run target in just 28.1 overs early on the fourth day. Jiwanjot's 18th first-class fifty drove Punjab, who started the day needing 51. While Jiwanjot was out stumped, Uday Kaul hit the winning runs with a boundary to seal the win. With two wins in five matches, Punjab are currently placed third in the pool, behind Tamil Nadu.
