The nominees for India's all-time Test XI have been put in the following categories: openers, middle order, wicketkeeper and bowlers. In each of these categories, the following ten players would make it to a Readers' All-time India XI based on voting: Openers (top 2), Middle order (top 3), Wicketkeeper (top 1), Bowlers (top 4). The 11th spot in the All-time XI would go to the player with the highest votes outside the above picks among either the category of middle order or bowlers.
