Earlier today at the national under 17's Championships in Melbourne, WA created a new record score for a WA team competing at the National Underage Championships.

Playing against the Northern Territory at the Preston CC in Melbourne, WA scored a mammoth 3-432 from 74 overs after they were earlier set 341 to win. WA easily passed the NT total with 12 overs and seven wickets to spare.

The total surpasses WA's previous record score of 8-423 set at the 1988/89 Championships.

The highlights of the WA innings were centuries to Theo Doropolous 151 (154 balls), and Ryan Phillimore 100no (74 balls), and scores of 78 to Matt Johnston and 70no to Rhys May.

The WACA extends its congratulations to coach Jamie Snadden and Manager Dean Holder and all the team, and urges them onto more success at the National Carnival.

WA goes into tomorrow's rest day in a strong position having won its first two games. WA's next game will be against the ACT following the rest day on Wednesday.
