Walsh, Ambrose, and Adams out of reckoning for tour opener
By Bob Dubery
The West Indies will play a Gauteng XI in Soweto tomorrow with 3 of
their senior players ruled out of contention for this fixture.
Jimmy Adams cut the little finger of his right hand on last night's
flight to Johannesburg and the team management want to give the injury
time to heal.
Curtley Ambrose and Courtney Walsh missed the flight and will only
arrive tomorrow. The flight was scheduled to leave Heathrow at 21:00,
and British Airways had to hold it back for 20 minutes in order that
the West Indian players could board. Even so Walsh and Ambrose were
too late and have had to make alternate travel arrangements.
The Gauteng XI will be captained by Gauteng wicket keeper Nicky Pothas
and will left handed batsman Jacob Malao and several other promising
Soweto cricketers.
