Karachi, Dec 10: Pakistan paceman Waqar Younis
termed his four for 88 against England as a reward
for determination and untiring hardwork.
Talking to reporters after he recorded best
bowling performance by a Pakistan pacer in the
series, Waqar admitted that the wicket was not
conducive for fast bowlers but he found success
because be bent his back and kept motivating
himself to keep going.
"It was hard work. The wicket was supportive to
spinners and conformed to our strategy in this
series. I had to bowl my heart out to cash in on
the unexpected opportunity," Waqar, who now has
312 wickets, said.
"When you are bowling after a lay-off, you try to
put in something extra. You also want to show that
you deserved to be in the team but was not
considered. I think same was my approach.
"Of course, as a player I was hurt when I was not
considered for the first two Tests. But then the
captain and the coach have their own gameplans and
it's not necessary that you always fit in those
schemes," Waqar, who did not figure in the 14-man
first Test squad, said.
