West Indies - South Africa Series status

UCB chief executive Ali Bacher is now "confident" that the five Test
and 7 ODI tour of South Africa by the West Indies will go ahead as per
schedule.
Bacher is in London to meet with representatives of the the WICBC and
the West Indian players. He also been in telephonic contact with WICBC
head Pat Rosseau. Bacher has not divulged any details of his various
discussions but says that he is confident that the tour will proceed.
"What I am prepared to say is that I have not yet told Nicky
Oppenheimer to reschedule or cancel," said Bacher with reference to
the opening fixture - a gala match on the Oppenheimer family ground to
raise money for the UCB's development program.
Further meetings will be held tomorrow (Sunday).
