BCL (106 & 135) lost to Schools South (235 & 7-0) by ten
wickets
On a slow turning pitch, Jason Roberts produced a steady spell of
medium paced bowling to lead CHIC Schools South to a convincing
victory over BCL yesterday.
Roberts captured six for 48 from 15 overs which included two maidens.
It followed a five-wicket haul against Spartan in his debut Division 1
match in the previous series.
Resuming on eight without loss and facing a deficit of 129 runs, BCL
lost six batsman for 93 runs at tea.
Kamal Turney and Donville Brathwaite had promising starts of 15 and
22, but failed to carry BCL out of danger.
Jarvis Forde showed a welcome return to form with a well-played 31,
and shared in a useful partnership of 44 with Hammie Chandler, 15,
before the latter was run out, leaving the tail exposed to the
energetic Roberts.
He received good support from Ché Cumberbatch with two for 17 from
nine overs and Jason Forde, one for 12 from five overs, as the
schoolboys maintained the pressure on the BCL, inflicting their first
defeat of the season.
