New Zealand v Sri Lanka, 2014-15

Wisden's review of the seventh ODI, New Zealand v Sri Lanka, 2014-15

15-Apr-2015
At Wellington (Westpac Stadium), January 29, 2015 (day/night). Sri Lanka won by 34 runs. Toss: Sri Lanka. One-day international debut: P. V. D. Chameera.
With the series already settled, New Zealand rested Brendon McCullum, while Angelo Mathews missed out again, this time because of flu. Sangakkara had compiled more than 200 runs in the series without swinging any of the results. That changed with this 113 not out, and he moved past Adam Gilchrist's one-day international record of 472 wicketkeeping dismissals for good measure. Alongside Dilshan - who hurt his wrist and clattered into the stumps diving for his crease, leaving him unable to salute his fifty - Sangakkara guided Sri Lanka 175 for one and, despite more thin returns down the order, they mustered a total that required New Zealand to make the highest successful run-chase at Wellington's multi-purpose stadium. For the third time in the series, Guptill fell in the first over to Kulasekara (who was later reprimanded for giving Ronchi a send-off). Sri Lanka handed Dushmantha Chameera a debut, and he bowled at a lively pace, claiming Taylor's wicket with his sixth ball, chopping on.
Man of the Match: K. C. Sangakkara. Man of the Series: K. S. Williamson.
