West Indies v Australia, 2011-12

Wisden's review of the second ODI, West Indies v Australia, 2011-12

15-Apr-2013
At Arnos Vale, St Vincent, March 18, 2012. West Indies won by five wickets (D/L). Toss: West Indies.
A sellout crowd, already buoyed by the presence of Chris Gayle in the stands and (premature) reports that his dispute with the board was about to end, celebrated with typical Caribbean abandon as West Indies completed their first one-day international victory over Australia in 15 attempts since the 2006 Champions Trophy. The pattern of a match reduced to 40 overs a side by morning rain was similar to that of the first game, two days earlier, at the same venue. Sent in, Australia made laboured progress on a slow surface, mainly against Roach and Narine, whose confusing, each-way spin earned him four wickets. Powell fell to the first ball of the reply, and West Indies wobbled until a fifth-wicket partnership of 64. It was ended when Dwayne Bravo became the second run-out victim, 20 short of the revised target of 158, with an unpredictable tail to follow. But Baugh completed the job with a swept six off Doherty, after one of Pollard's four sixes (he hit no fours) finished in the vicinity of the adjoining airport.
Man of the Match: S. P. Narine.
